******We have finished our beginning of the year fast*****

We encourage you to develop an ongoing practice of fasting.

Why We Fast

Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline that allows us to draw closer to God by setting aside physical comforts and focusing on Him. In the Bible, fasting is often seen as a time of repentance, spiritual renewal, and seeking God’s guidance. It is an act of surrender that helps us align our hearts with God’s will, allowing us to hear His voice more clearly and grow in faith. When we fast, we intentionally create space for prayer, worship, and reflection, demonstrating our dependence on God rather than worldly sustenance.

One of the most well-known examples of fasting in the Bible is found in the book of Daniel. When Daniel and his companions were taken into Babylonian captivity, they chose to honor God by refusing the king’s rich food and wine. Instead, they ate only vegetables and drank water, a practice now known as the “Daniel Fast.” Through their obedience and discipline, God gave them wisdom, strength, and favor. Later, Daniel fasted again for 21 days, seeking understanding and direction from God, and his prayers were answered in extraordinary ways. This example reminds us of the power of fasting when combined with prayer and a heart committed to God’s purposes.

Benefits of Fasting

Fasting has numerous spiritual benefits. It sharpens our spiritual sensitivity, enabling us to better discern God’s will for our lives. Fasting can break spiritual strongholds, bring clarity to difficult decisions, and create breakthroughs in areas where we may feel stuck. It humbles us, reminding us of our complete reliance on God, and deepens our intimacy with Him. On a practical level, fasting can also help reset priorities and develop discipline, making it easier to focus on the things that truly matter.

Our Focus

We are focused on the following things as a church:   1)Church and Community Impact  2)  Vision / Wisdom / Increase (spiritual, physical, financial) 3)  Our Nation and Our Leaders 4) Personal (individual focus).   If you are fasting food, refrain from eating from mid-night to noon daily. (Water is permitted during this time).   For those with health limitations, please follow doctor's recommendations.  For those that are fasting from other things (i.e. tv, social media, etc..), you will refrain from your determined sacrifice for the duration of the 21 days.  Don't forget the most important part of the fast, seeking God in prayer.  Try to pray at least 3 times daily seeking God's guidance.

Be Encouraged

As you embark on your fasting journey, remember that fasting is not about perfection but about devotion. God sees your sacrifice and honors your desire to draw near to Him. You may face challenges along the way, but remember that His grace is sufficient for you. Stay encouraged, lean into God’s strength, and trust that He will meet you in powerful and personal ways during this time. Let this fast be an opportunity for renewal, growth, and a deeper connection with your Creator. You are not alone on this journey; we are in this together, united in purpose and faith.
